Teaching empathy in healthcare: an integrative review

Abstract Empathy presupposes the ability and, most importantly, willingness to understand others and put oneself in their place. Hence, health personnel are expected be more empathetic able read world around them with a humanized, critical, reflexive look. This integrative review examines studies on teaching empathy undergraduate programs published last five years. A total of 27 were selected from MEDLINE LILACS databases, which fields medicine nursing. Although subjective element, measured using standardized scales (quantitative approach).
